Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced after a meeting in Hungary on Friday that Romania and Bulgaria will fully join Europe's Schengen area from January 2025.
The European Commission has stated that a thorough investigation has shown that they meet all the requirements of the Schengen Agreement.
The Ministry of Finance estimates that joining the European Open Border Zone will increase Romania's annual economic growth by half a percent.
