The Parliament of Abkhazia accepted the resignation of President Aslan Bzhania. 31 deputies participated in the voting, 2 ballots were declared invalid. 28 MPs voted in favor of Aslan Bzhania's resignation, 1 voted against.
A constitutional majority of 24 votes was needed to adopt the decision.
According to the agreement between the government and opposition representatives, Vice President Badra Gunba will perform the president's duties. Valery Bganba, the former parliament speaker, will be appointed prime minister.
