President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in the Verkhovna Rada that Ukrainian laws do not allow holding presidential elections during wartime. At the same time, some people are hungry for power and want to struggle inside the country.
According to Zelensky, no one among Ukraine's partners has ever demanded that Ukraine hold presidential elections.
"But there are some people in Ukraine who want a struggle within the state, not for the sake of the state. They want political disputes in the trenches, in TV studios," he added, noting that it is destructive for the country.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine first needs a just peace. After that, Ukrainians will hold presidential elections.
"One must be able to put the common interest higher than any personal desire," Zelensky said.
