Borrell criticized Aliyev

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, expressed his regret regarding the statements made yesterday by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the EU, France, and the Netherlands.

"President Aliyev's accusations against the EU, France, and the Netherlands are deeply regrettable. These unacceptable statements can undermine the most important climate objectives of the conference and the confidence in Azerbaijan's presidency at COP29," "X"- Josep Borel wrote on the page.

According to him, the EU and its member states make the most significant contribution to the global financing of the fight against climate change.

"We also reject the attacks of the Azerbaijani authorities on mass media and NGOs, which are facing a critical human rights situation in the country," added Borel.
