Reuter reports that President Joe Biden will receive the newly elected President Donald Trump at the White House today. The meeting's purpose is to demonstrate a smooth transition of power between the administrations, although Trump's team has not yet signed the documents to begin the transition process.
Biden will host him, although Trump did not organize a traditional courtesy reception for Biden at the end of his term.
"He believes in norms, he believes in our institution, he believes in the peaceful transfer of power," said White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre, commenting on Biden's decision to invite Trump.
