Shigeru Ishiba was elected the new Prime Minister of Japan due to the second round of voting in the lower house of the parliament.
In the second round, incumbent Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and the leader of the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party, Yoshihiko Noda, were competing for the post of prime minister.
Voting for the Prime Minister's election became necessary after the general elections of deputies of the lower house of parliament, which were held on October 27.
