In an interview with "Le Parisien," French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot expressed confidence that the newly elected US President Donald Trump will continue to support Ukraine despite his pre-election statements.
"He is too wise to agree to the biggest territorial annexation in the last 75 years. It is too wise to forget that no just and lasting peace can be concluded behind the backs of the Ukrainians and over the heads of the Europeans. It will strengthen the right of the strong, having dire consequences in Europe and other regions," stated the French Foreign Minister.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump's entourage is considering freezing the frontline by creating a demilitarized zone and introducing a 20-year moratorium on Ukraine's membership in NATO.
Trump promised to end the war "within 24 hours" on the campaign trail without detailing the plan.
