The Pentagon has allowed weapons repair specialists to go to Ukraine

Reuters reports that the Pentagon has allowed weapons repair specialists to go to Ukraine.

An American official, who wished to remain anonymous, told the media that the specialists will not participate in combat operations.

"The presence of such specialists in Ukraine, who will carry out technical maintenance far from the front line, will help repair the equipment in case of weapon damage quickly," added the agency's interlocutor.

CNN reported in June that Washington was working to lift a de facto ban on the deployment of US military contractors.

Under US export laws, Ukrainian companies are not allowed to repair M777 howitzers. At the same time, American specialists cannot go to the front line to repair equipment because they are subject to the same restrictions on movement from the White House as diplomats.
