If Republican Donald Trump wins the US elections, the changes will affect the United States and the rest of the world. Francis Fukuyama, a senior researcher at Stanford University, expressed a similar opinion.
According to him, voters vote in response to short-term issues, including inflation, and are not concerned with long-term, essential topics such as the rule of law.
Fukuyama warned that Trump's return would set a bad precedent for Europe, referring to the further strengthening of right-wing populists in the EU.
"We are entering the stage of geopolitical risks. Thus, we are discussing the possibility of a peace agreement with Putin at the expense of Ukraine. In addition, there is no certainty that Washington will want to protect its allies from China in Southeast Asia," Fukuyama warned.
