According to a new report, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered his troops to prepare a direct attack on Israel. He considered Israel's retaliatory strike last week too serious to ignore.
"While Khamenei sought to publicly downplay the scale of Israel's attack on Tehran's military facilities, he privately endorsed plans for a counterstrike during a meeting with the Supreme National Security Council," three Iranian officials told the New York Times.
The Ayatollah is said to have made his decision on Monday after reading a damage report from his military officials detailing strikes on missile factories and Tehran's defense systems.
