Sweden stops cooperation with Georgia

Sweden stops cooperation with Georgia at the level of state bodies, Sweden Herald reports.

In a written statement, Benjamin Dousa, Sweden's minister for development and foreign trade cooperation, said the development of events in Georgia has been "alarming for a long time. " The violations reported by international observers in the October 26 parliamentary elections confirmed this.

It is noted that "the pro-Russian ruling Georgian Dream party won the controversial parliamentary elections, the legitimacy of which is questioned by the opposition and international observers."

"For this reason, the government stopped the Swedish-Georgian direct cooperation, which is still ongoing, including with the tax department of Georgia," he stated.

According to Dousa, cooperation can be resumed if Georgia applies to the EU again.
