Zelensky shared the details of his conversation with Trump about NATO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a briefing in Brussels that he discussed the issue of Ukraine joining NATO with US presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Zelensky noted that in his conversation with Trump, he cited the Budapest memorandum as an example. Within the framework of this memorandum, Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia. These guarantees were supposed to protect Ukraine's territorial integrity, but the agreements did not work.

Zelensky added that Ukraine's security guarantees can be provided either through nuclear weapons or through NATO membership. He noted that Ukraine chose the alliance.

According to Trump, those arguments are fair.
