The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo for its efforts to create a world free of nuclear weapons.
The organization has been telling the world about the dangers of nuclear weapons for decades, citing the catastrophic consequences of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The representative of the Nobel Committee, announcing the name of the laureate, emphasized that in parallel with the persistent struggle of the Japanese organization against the use of nuclear weapons, many countries of the world are consistently increasing their nuclear capabilities and improving their weapons.
