US President Joe Biden had a 30-minute telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is the first conversation in almost 2 months.
After the end of the telephone conversation, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said that the two leaders discussed Israel's possible response to Iran.
Biden noted that Israel's response should be proportional. He condemned Iran's missile attack and stressed the need to find diplomatic solutions to safely return both Lebanese and Israeli civilians to both sides of the "blue line."
In addition, the parties discussed the need to resume diplomatic efforts. To free the hostages held by Hamas, the head of the White House also referred to the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. It drew attention to the need to restore access to the northern part of the exclave.
Regarding the conversation between Biden and Netanyahu, Karine Jean-Pierre said the discussion was productive.
