According to American-Armenian mass media, US Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the American-Armenian community on RA Independence Day, sending good wishes. Harris, in particular, noted:
"I send my best wishes to you as you celebrate the Independence Day of Armenia. This was the day when the Armenian people voted to separate from the Soviet Union to become a free, independent nation. However, we must never forget the Armenian Genocide, when about 1.5 million Armenians were displaced, massacred, and marched to death. It is a tragedy that continues to shape the identity of the Armenian people," the message said.
The US vice president said that the resilience of the Armenian-American community remains a source of inspiration in the common Armenian-American history.
"I remain committed to sustainable peace between Armenia and its neighbors based on sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The right of displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh to return to their homes safely is vital for restoring the dignity of the Armenian people and stability in the region," she noted.
According to Harris, she will continue to support Armenia in its efforts to strengthen democracy and establish stability in the region.
"Armenia and its people have a rich history that inspires us all to strive for freedom and justice. I remain committed to deepening the ties between our nations and fostering partnerships that enhance our shared values and aspirations. Together, we can build a safer, fairer, and freer world," she said.
