40 dead, more than 60 injured as a result of Israeli strikes in Gaza

According to the BBC, the Gaza Civil Defense Department, which is under the control of Hamas, said that at least 40 people were killed and 60 were injured as a result of an Israeli attack on one of the Khan-Younis districts in the south of Gaza.

Israel announced that the target of the attack was the command center of the militants. The strike reportedly hit the Al Mawas area, where a tent camp for displaced persons is located.

Witnesses told the BBC that shortly after midnight, loud explosions thundered across the Al Marwaz area, and the sky lit up with fire. According to Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense, quoted by CNN, there were a total of more than 200 tents in the Al-Mawasi area, with 20 to 40 destroyed.
