Aliyev and Meloni discussed agenda issues

Azerbaijani media reports that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, met in Rome. The two discussed agenda issues of Italian-Azerbaijani bilateral relations.

A wide exchange of ideas was held on the issues of expanding bilateral trade and economic relations between the countries, particularly on developing relations in the industrial, energy, humanitarian, and cultural fields.

Meloni thanked Azerbaijan for the humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine and emphasized Azerbaijan's role in this matter. She thanked Aliyev for the invitation to COP29 and said he would be happy to participate in that event. Meloni noted that her country is ready to provide Azerbaijan with all the necessary support for successfully holding COP29.

During the conversation, it was noted with satisfaction that new areas of cooperation between the Italian company Eni S.P.A. and SOCAR were highlighted, and ideas were exchanged regarding the participation of these companies in joint projects in third countries.

The issue of participation of Azerbaijan and Italy in joint investment projects in third countries was also raised at the meeting. The importance of the Middle Corridor was emphasized, the prospects of Italian companies using the opportunities of this corridor were discussed.

The role of the Italian-Azerbaijani economic cooperation committee was mentioned; an agreement was reached to hold a committee meeting next year. Aliyev invited Meloni to Azerbaijan on an official visit. The latter accepted the invitation with satisfaction.
