The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, stated that Turkey strives to achieve progress in its relations with the European Union. According to him, the European Union's positive approach, unrelated to the Cyprus issue, will serve common interests.
Before that, Fidan participated in an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. "The meeting in Brussels is important from the point of view of revitalizing our relations with the EU," Fidan said, recalling that Turkey was not invited to those meetings for a long time.
"Today, almost all of my colleagues from the EU emphasized the need to continue structured and regular dialogue and consultations with Turkey in all areas, especially in foreign policy, security and defense. They noted that Turkey plays an important role in the relations between Russia and Ukraine in the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, Syria, Iraq, the Middle East, Africa, and the South Caucasus. They emphasized the importance of closer and deeper consultations between Turkey and the EU and forming a common policy," Fidan said in an interview with "Anadolu."
