U.S. President Joe Biden stated Russia's air attack on Ukraine's energy system.
Earlier, Russia launched a combination of missiles and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities report that the attack resulted in the loss of Ukrainian civilians and targeted more than two dozen critical energy facilities.
"I condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine and its attempts to plunge the Ukrainian people into darkness. Let me be clear: Russia will never succeed in Ukraine, and the spirit of the Ukrainian people will never be broken.
I announced at the NATO summit in July that the United States and our allies provided Ukraine with five additional strategic air defense systems. I also changed the priorities of American air defense exports to Ukraine first. The U.S. is also supplying energy equipment to Ukraine to repair its systems and increase the stability of Ukraine's energy grid.
Ukraine remains a free, sovereign, and independent state, and the Ukrainian military fights every day to defend their homeland and freedom. The United States will support the people of Ukraine until they achieve victory," said Biden's message.
