Vice President Kamala Harris outlined the broad principles of foreign policy in a speech on the last day of the Democratic convention and sharply contrasted with rival Donald Trump. It should be noted that the elections are 11 weeks away.
At the four-day Democratic convention, Harris, 59, promised to be a "realistic and practical" president for all Americans.
"In the never-ending struggle between democracy and dictatorship, I know my position, and I know where the place of the United States is," he declared, promising to support NATO and Ukraine and "resist Putin's aggression."
Harris has said he wants to end the war in a way that ensures Israel's security and allows the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination.
"Now is the time to release the hostages and sign a cease-fire deal. Let me be clear. I will always defend Israel's right to self-defense, and I will always ensure that Israel has the opportunity to defend itself," Harris said.
