On the eve of Ukraine's National Flag and Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska presented 11 prominent people with the "National Legend" award.
Film director, screenwriter, collage artist, and People's Artist of the USSR and USSR Sergey Parajanov were also awardees. "We are proud to have such Ukrainians and such friends; we are extremely grateful and delighted to live in a country that has united such respected and talented people," Zelensky said.
The "National Legend of Ukraine" award was established in 2021. Since then, the president annually awards this award to people who have contributed to establishing independent Ukraine and its defense, the development of the national economy, science, education, culture, art, sports, health care, and active charitable and public activities. :
