"By mutual agreement, we removed that point (corridor) from the peace agreement." Amirbekov

In an interview with "Azatutyun" radio station, Ambassador Elchin Amirbekov, the representative of the President of Azerbaijan, referred to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace negotiations, Azerbaijan's demands, and the unblocking of communications.

"Territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are included in the current constitution of Armenia, remain the only obstacle to further progress in the peace process between Baku and Yerevan," said Amirbekov. According to Amirbekov, one of the factors contributing to the negotiations at the moment is that both sides have reached an agreement on the most controversial of the remaining issues, the so-called "Zangezur Corridor."

"By mutual agreement, we decided to remove this clause from the peace agreement and move the discussion to a later stage ... So we decided to remove it from the text, but we can still reflect on the fact that this is one of the issues that countries can return to in the future to discuss and to reach an agreement," he concluded.
