The EU did not recognize the re-election of the Venezuelan president

The official results of the counting of votes in the presidential elections of Venezuela, which were published by the country's electoral council, cannot be recognized as reliable. This is the position of the European Union. The corresponding statement was published on the European Council's website on behalf of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell.

The statement states that international observers have pointed out the inconsistencies in voting organizations in Venezuela with international standards. The electoral commission of Venezuela has not yet published protocols from the polling stations that will confirm Nicolás Maduro's victory in the elections. At the same time, the country's election commission has already announced the head of the country as the re-elected leader.
