Iran has refused to soften its response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement in Tehran, and intends to retaliate against Israel, the Wall Street Journal writes, citing sources.
According to them, the USA asked its allies to send an impulse to Iran in order not to escalate the situation. The US has said efforts by Iran's new president to improve relations with the West will stand a better chance if Iran shows restraint.
