The US State Department commented on the possibility of sanctions against Ivanishvili

Vendant Patel, the spokesperson for the US State Department, answered the journalist's question as to why the US State Department does not apply sanctions against the former Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili, if these changes and turnarounds in Georgia are, with his knowledge and support.
Patel, in particular, answered, "I'm not just going to discuss what specific actions the United States can or cannot take. Of course, we have the tools and arsenal to hold the relevant organizations accountable. We need them, including in the context of Georgia."
