"Both sides continue to have occupied territories." O' Brien

O'Brien, the US State Department's Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, addressed the issue of Azerbaijan's occupation of Armenia's strategic territories during the Senate hearings.

"The parties have agreed on the delimitation process; they have agreed on the borders. And you are right: there are territories that both sides continue to occupy, according to the border around which they have come to a common denominator. But it is a process, and the parties continue to work in that direction," said O'Brien.

O'Brien answered that the peace process also deals with the issues of those territories. The peace agreement will refer to other regulations on which these issues should be settled in the future.

The committee chairman responded, "That process may take years, and we will have another Moldova and another Georgia."
