The USA may apply new sanctions against Georgian officials

US Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said the US is considering imposing new sanctions against Georgian officials and politicians.

 

The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee discussed the situation in Georgia during the hearing on the future of Europe. O'Brien highlighted three main issues:

  • Parliamentary elections in October.

  • The law on "foreign agents."

  • The arrival of Chinese investors in the project to build a deep-sea port in Anaklia.
