The Tasnim agency reported that as a result of the attack in Tehran, the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed.
Hamas leader Haniyeh and his bodyguard were killed in an Israeli airstrike on his residence after attending the inauguration ceremony of Iran's newly elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The Hamas movement confirmed Haniyeh's death in a statement: "Brother, leader Mujahideen Ismail Hanieh, the leader of the movement, was killed by the Zionists in an attack on his headquarters in Tehran after he participated in the inauguration of the new president of Iran."
The group still does not elaborate on how exactly the strike was carried out, which led to the death of the leader of Hamas.
Iranian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
