US President Joe Biden has announced that he will not seek re-election from the Democratic Party for a second term but intends to serve his current term.
"I believe it is in the best interest of my party and country that I step down and focus on fulfilling the duties of president for the remainder of my term," Biden wrote in a letter posted on his social network.
He promised to give more details about his decision in an address to the nation later this week.
