Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has resigned to lead EU diplomacy. He will replace Josep Borell. Estonian President Alar Karis met with Kallas on Monday morning.
At the end of June, the leaders of the EU countries approved the candidates for the leadership of the Union for the next five years. Instead of Josep Borell, Kaya Kallas will become the high representative of EU foreign affairs, Ursula von der Leyen will remain the president of the European Commission, and former Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa will replace Charles Michel as the head of the European Council.
