DW reports that the USA will strengthen the defenses of its European NATO partners to restrain Russia.
The joint statement of the USA and Germany, published on July 10 in the framework of the NATO countries' summit in Washington, said that Germany will temporarily deploy Tomahawk cruise missiles and other long-range weapons from 2026.
The document also mentions the SM-6 anti-aircraft missiles and new designs of hypersonic weapons, "which have a significantly greater range than the ground-based defense systems operating in Europe."
DW emphasizes that for the first time since the Cold War, Germany will again deploy weapons systems that can reach Russian territory.
