Xi announced three priorities for ending the war in Ukraine

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Monday in Beijing. The parties exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis.

Orban informed Xi about his recent visits to Ukraine and Russia. President Xi expressed gratitude for Orbán's efforts to support the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis and detailed China's relevant views and proposals. Xi stressed that an early ceasefire and political settlement are in the interests of all parties, saying the priority is to cool down the situation by adhering to the three principles of not expanding the battlefield, not escalating the fighting, and not adding fuel to the fire.

"China actively promotes peace talks in its way and encourages and supports all efforts that contribute to the peaceful resolution of the crisis," he said, adding that the main proposals and direction of efforts of China and Hungary are the same. China is willing to stay in touch with Hungary and all relevant parties.
