Armenia's policy of creating new tension in the region and hindering peace and stability will not bring any results. It was said in the commentary of Aykhan Hajizade, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia on June 19.
"It would be better if the Armenian side, referring to the territorial integrity based on the 1991 borders and the Alma-Ata Declaration, explained why it did not respect those agreements for more than 30 years, refused to recognize the borders reflected in the Soviet maps, occupying the territories of Azerbaijan."
"The main condition for signing a real and lasting peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is the constitution of Armenia, which mentions the declaration of Armenia's independence, calling to "unify Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh" and end the conflict. The ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan are fixed in that country's legal and political documents. The logic of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia that this problem can be ignored shows that this country is not interested in lasting peace and is only trying to maintain this situation as a fallback option to start aggression against Azerbaijan again in the future.
We repeat that Armenia's insidious policy of creating new tension in the region and hindering peace and stability will not bring any results.Instead of such provocations and thoughts full of political speculation against Azerbaijan, the Armenian side should fulfill its international obligations and contribute to the peace process, not by words, but by deeds," the message said.
