The parliament of Kazakhstan has allowed an increase in the volume of TV programs in the Kazakh language to 60%

Deputies of the Kazakh parliament have approved a law on "mass media," which involves increasing the volume of TV and radio programs in the state (Kazakh) language from 50% to 60% by 2027.

In particular, it is planned to increase the requirement for the distribution of TV and radio programs in the state language and the volume of local content to 55% from 2025 and 60% of the total volume of TV and radio programs from 2027. Moreover, it is planned to reduce the volume of rebroadcasting of foreign TV programs and radio programs, increasing from 20 to 10% of the weekly volume of Kazakh TV channels and radio.
