During the US House of Representatives hearings, US State Department spokesman Anthony Blinken referred to US aid for Armenia, Armenia-Azerbaijan, and Armenia-US relations. When asked if Armenia asked for $2 billion in aid from the United States and what the status of the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations was, Blinken said:
"We are studying RA's applications to support them and to strengthen and deepen our relations. I met Prime Minister Pashinyan a few weeks ago in Brussels to see what we and the EU can do to support Armenia. And we can do it in different fields. Prime Minister Pashinyan has done an extraordinary job leading his country through tough times, and we are looking to help people, including those who have left Nagorno-Karabakh. The best thing to happen is the progress of Armenia-Azerbaijani relations in the peace agreement. If this agreement is implemented, it will support Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the entire region."
Blinken replied to the observation of Costa, a representative of the House of Representatives, that he does not trust Azerbaijan: "As the saying goes, trust but verify."
