The US and Israel discussed alternatives to the operation in Rafah

The US President's National Security Assistant, Jake Sullivan, who is on an official visit to Israel, discussed with the Jewish state's authorities alternative options for carrying out the operation in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. The White House press service reported this on Monday. Negotiations between Israel and Egypt on the resumption of the Rafah crossing are crucial to securing a significant amount of humanitarian aid for the needy residents of the Gaza Strip.

Sullivan held talks with the Palestinian Authority on May 19, during which they discussed the delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages held by Hamas, the Palestinian reform plan, and "the importance of providing financial support from the international community so that the new Palestinian government can succeed."
