"IRIB" TV channel reported that Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's first vice president, will assume the duties of the president until the elections are held.
According to Article 131 of the Iranian Constitution, if the president dies, his duties are performed by the first vice president, with the approval of the country's leadership. A new president must be elected within 50 days.
