The opening of the Zangezur Corridor will help Armenia improve relations with Turkey and receive additional income from transit fees. This was stated by Elchin Amirbekov, the representative of the President of Azerbaijan in charge of special assignments, in an interview with the German "Zeit" newspaper.
According to Amirbekov, Armenia could also overcome its isolation in this way. Amirbekov emphasized that if the official Yerevan refuses the road and railway passing through Zangezur, Azerbaijan will build such a route through the territory of Iran. "We can build a road and railway further south through Iran, and it will only be 10 km long," he said.
