An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred in Japan

The National Meteorological Service reports that a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Japan between the islands of Shikoku and Kyushu, with no tsunami threat. 

The earthquake's epicenter was located in the Bungo Strait, which connects the Inland Sea of ​​Japan and the Pacific Ocean.

There are no reports of casualties or damage. Strong tremors were felt in Kochi, Ehime, Oita, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi prefectures.

As the Chief Secretary of the Cabinet of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi, said at a press conference in Tokyo, the third reactor of the Ikata nuclear power plant in Ehime Prefecture is usually working, and no changes in background radiation have been recorded.

According to NHK TV, there are no power outages in the region.
