Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said, "I propose to the ambassadors of the United States of America, the European Union, and EU member states to hold a public debate on the bill on the transparency of foreign influence."
As Kobakhidze noted, ambassadors traditionally actively participate in political debates in the country, and the government understands this. "However, we cannot understand the widespread practice when foreign diplomats fail to answer our arguments behind closed doors and, at the same time, make groundless political statements in the public domain," he noted. It should be noted that today, the relevant committee of the Parliament of Georgia is discussing the draft law on "transparency of foreign influence," which has been strongly criticized by the Georgian opposition, political society, and EU-US partners.
