Paolo Formentini, deputy of the Italian "League" party, asked Giorgio Silli, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, what measures the Italian government will take to promote the further rapprochement of Armenia and the Euro-Atlantic West in the current situation.
"The relations between the European Union and Armenia are experiencing exceptional dynamics. We highly appreciate Armenia's desire to strengthen cooperation with Brussels. It is essential to encourage Yerevan's progress in such fundamental areas as strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, and human rights.
The existing cooperation instruments, the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and the Eastern Partnership regional mechanism, provide an institutional framework for deepening dialogue and cooperation.
Italy hopes that we can define a new partnership program between Brussels and Yerevan. This will contribute to the complete liberation of Yerevan from Russian guardianship," said the Italian Deputy Foreign Minister.
