A Hamas political leader said killing the leaders' sons would make the group "more steadfast in its principles and commitment to the land." The three sons of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. The killing threatens to complicate ongoing negotiations aimed at securing a ceasefire and hostage deals.
"Anyone who thinks that by targeting my children during the negotiations and before the deal is signed, I will agree to force Hamas to give up its demands is mistaken," Haniyeh said in a statement.
