The official representative of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, clarified his country's position regarding the South Caucasus region in response to a question related to the recent tripartite meeting between Armenia, the United States, and the European Union in Brussels.
As "IRNA" reports, Kanani emphasized the importance of regional cooperation for the establishment of peace and stability in the Caucasus. According to him, the strengthening of economic cooperation and the expansion of ties play an effective role in establishing peace, stability, and economic development in the Caucasus region. The Iranian Foreign Ministry representative also emphasized the need to use the regional potential, including the "3+3" consultative mechanism, to resolve the remaining disputes.
"Iran has repeatedly stated that it supports the territorial integrity of the countries in the region and the right to sovereignty over its land without changing the internationally recognized borders. He also repeatedly called on Azerbaijan and Armenia, his two neighbors, to settle their disputes through dialogue.
