Finland sees no military threat

During the first press briefing, Lieutenant General Janne Jaakkola, the new commander of the Finnish Defense Forces, announced that Finland has no military threat. Still, the country should be prepared for a sharp deterioration of the security situation.

"There is no military threat to Finland. However, we must be prepared for the deteriorating security situation to persist for a long time. In the event of a change in the situation, we will have to react quickly," he said, citing the situation with refugees at the Finnish-Russian border as an example.
