Niger can give Iran access to uranium

Referring to its sources, "The Wall Street Journal" reported that Niger's decision to sever the military agreement with Washington may be because Washington has accused Niger's ruling National Council for the Salvation of the Fatherland of working out a secret deal to give Iran access to uranium resources.

The Wall Street Journal reported in February that negotiations between Iran and Niger had "reached a very advanced stage." As the anonymous interlocutor in the newspaper said, the parties have signed a preliminary agreement. Meanwhile, two other sources said the deal still needs to be completed. Intelligence from the United States and other Western countries indicated that the agreement would allow Iran to acquire some of Niger's uranium reserves.
