Rheinmetall will build an artillery factory in Ukraine by 2025

Preparations for the construction of a new plant for the production of projectiles in Ukraine are being completed; the groundbreaking ceremony will take place soon. On March 14, Armin Papperger, the head of the German Rheinmetall concern, announced this during a press conference on the results for 2023. According to him, the first shells in Ukraine can leave the conveyor in 15 months.

We are talking about a German-Ukrainian joint venture. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding in February as part of the Munich Security Conference. Rheinmetall plans to produce a six-figure number of NATO-caliber 155mm artillery batteries in Ukraine each year, which Kyiv still imports.
