The US has asked Iran to force the Houthis to stop their Red Sea offensive.

US and Iranian officials told "The Financial Times" that the US has held indirect talks with Iran, asking them to force the Houthis to stop their attacks to restore maritime trade in the Red Sea.

The negotiations took place in Oman and touched on Iran's nuclear program. The US delegation was led by Brett McGurk, the White House adviser on Middle East affairs, and Iranian Ambassador Abram Paley. Iran sent Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani to the negotiations. The two sides spoke only with Omani mediators and not directly with each other.
