The EU does not want to "throw Russia into China's arms"

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated that the EU is not interested in "putting Russia into the arms of China."

"They (Moscow and Beijing) have a friendship treaty, which, according to them, has no restrictions, but China does not supply arms to Russia," the diplomat said in an interview with the "EFE" agency. According to him, the EU should ensure that "the rise of China as a great power will contribute to peace and stability in the world." Borel added that the European Union "is not interested in pushing Russia into China's arms." He also called China a partner, competitor, and adversary simultaneously.
