The US increases the pressure on Russia by imposing 500 more sanctions

Biden announced that the US would impose an additional 500 sanctions against Russia, and export restrictions would apply to almost 100 legal entities.

According to the White House statement, the sanctions will affect the financial, military-industrial complex, and procurement sectors.

The US will also impose new export restrictions and take steps to reduce Russia's energy revenues further. Biden said this in a statement.

Biden said the measures are aimed at holding Russia accountable for the war and the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, as Washington hopes to continue supporting Ukraine even as it faces acute ammunition shortages and a months-long delay in US military aid in Congress.

"They ensure that Putin will pay a greater price for his aggression abroad and repression at home," Biden said of the sanctions.
