Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that during the meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, they also discussed the steps taken to ensure peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
"There is no doubt that signing a permanent peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia will become a new source of hope for peace, tranquility, and stability in our region and worldwide. In this process, we work shoulder-to-shoulder with Azerbaijan. After the end of the occupation of Karabakh, a historic window of opportunity has opened for the establishment of permanent peace in our region. This window of opportunity mustn't close. I think that Armenia should evaluate this process from a long-term strategic point of view," he said.
Erdogan called on third parties to contribute constructively, "not to poison the process." "On this occasion, I would also like to announce that we hope that the actions that took place on the border of the two countries in recent days will not be repeated."
